President Peter Mutharika has left Blantyre for Lilongwe by road silently.
The move has surprised many people including his DPP party supporters who normally line up the road and give him a ‘big’ welcome as he arrives in Lilongwe.
Insiders said Mutharika left Sanjika Palace in Blantyre at 14.08hrs silently and will not make any stop overs as has been tradition over the years.
Last time Mutharika was forced to use the Lilongwe by pass road by angry people who threatened to stone him accusing him of stealing the May 2019 election.
But Mutharika has been boasting that he does not fear anyone in the country.
His actions however have shown that he is a very afraid man after staying away from Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, his normal operating base, for most of his time since his election ‘victory’ in May elections.
People have been mocking Mutharika of being a mere ‘regional governor’ for the south after avoiding staying in Lilongwe where people are protesting his win with violent acts.
