President Peter Mutharika has bought a campaign stage and other related materials in readiness for the most likely re-run of the May 21 elections.
We can reveal that the campaign stage for the President was elected at Sanjika Palace grounds last week to check its stability.
“It is most likely that the courts will rule for a rerun and we did not want to be taken by surprise hence this stage,” said an insider at Sanjika Palace.
The source said Mutharika has ordered more campaign materials like t shirts, caps and cloth which will be arriving from China next week.
DPP insiders also confirmed that the party is getting ready for a rerun.
“We are always ready for any election even if they say tomorrow,” said Symon Vuwa Kaunda, a cabinet Minister.
The Constitutional court is hearing the challenge of the May 21 election results filed by immediate past Vice President Saulos Chilima and MCP President Lazarus Chakwera and is yet to pass judgement on the matter.
