Desperate for votes, Minister of Energy Atupele Muluzi blew out millions of taxpayers money to travel 700 kilometers to Chitipa just to switch on a light bulb.
Young Muluzi is presidential running mate to 83 year old President Peter Mutharika who is holed up at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.
Muluzi, who is traveling with a convoy of more than 24 high fuel guzzling vehicles is feared to have blown a whopping K120 million on the trip to the north where he is apparently on ‘official duties’ by switching on light bulbs under the Malawi Rural Electrification Project.
Muluzi, without shame, switched on the light bulb in a dilapidated building with no windows at Kapoka Trading Centre in Chitipa on Wednesday.
A political analyst described the wastage of resources by the young Muluzi as a dent on his campaign.
“How is he going to convince voters that he will take care of government resources when he is showing this impunity by blowing up our hard earned money through these phony projects?” He wondered.
Atupele Muluzi, son of former president if Malawi, Dr. Bakili Muluzi is desperately doing everything possible to protect his father who is living with fear of being arrested by Lazarous Chakwera, the Tonse Alliance torch bearer, for stealing billions of taxpayers money during his reign from 1994 to 2004.
